Katharine Brandon Caccia
Jan. 10, 1947 - March 31, 2024
DENVER, Colorado - Katharine (Kay) Brandon Caccia, 77, of Denver, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024, at Abernethy Laurels in Newton.
She was born January 10, 1947, in Washington, IL, to the late Woodrow and Elene Welsh Brandon. Kay was a graduate of Eureka College in Eureka, IL, her hometown. She graduated in 1969 with a bachelor's in elementary education.
Kay was from a family of school teachers, her mother and both her maternal grandparents were school teachers. Kay taught mostly second and a few years of first grade in Illinois, South Carolina and North Carolina. She taught for a total of 33 years and retired in 2006. She also taught many years as a Sunday school teacher at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church in Sherrills Ford where she was a member. Even with dementia, the sight of a small child could still put a twinkle in her eye and a smile on her face.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Robert C Brandon.
Kay is survived by her husband, Robert Caccia of 51 years; two sons: Michael (Eve Kosol) and John (Chan); and four grandchildren: Cameron, Bryan, Bella and Charleston. She has many cousins in Illinois, Florida, Minnesota, and California, as well as an extended family of in-laws: Candie Rudzinski (Joe), Susan Caccia, Howard Caccia (Diane), Karen Ammons (Mark); and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Abernethy Laurels and Carolina Caring Catawba Valley Hospice House for their compassionate care of Kay during the last few months of her life here on earth!
