William Dean Berger

William "Bill" Berger, born on September 20, 1956, in Danville, Illinois, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, in Hendersonville, NC, at the age of 69.

Bill was a devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather who touched the lives of many with his kindness and warm heart. He leaves behind a family that cherished him deeply and friends who valued his companionship.

After earning an associate degree from AB Technical College, Bill dedicated his career to the field of tool and die engineering. He worked diligently at General Electric in East Flat Rock and later at Advanced Technology Services-Eaton in Arden. His expertise and dedication to his craft were well-respected by his colleagues.

Outside of work, Bill played tennis and golf, enjoying the camaraderie and competition these sports provided.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Dixon Berger and John "Jack" Greer Berger, and his sister, Beverly Schain. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Sheila Berger; his daughters, Amber Chauvette (Mike) of Forest City, NC, and Lauren Nations (Bryce) of Smyrna, GA; and his sons, Blake Berger (Kelley) of Denver, NC, and Tyler Berger (Brittany) of Fletcher, NC. Bill is also survived by his sister, Marsha Berger, of Covington, IN; and his brothers, Byron Berger (Cheryl) of Covington, IN, Richard Berger (Darcy) of Aracaju, Brazil, and Ken Berger of Flat Rock, NC. His legacy continues through his adored grandchildren: Hannah McClain, Charlotte, Cole, and Cameron Berger, Caleb, Greyson, and Blakeleigh Berger, and Noah Nations.

A memorial service will be held at Arden Seventh-Day Adventist Church on Saturday, April 18, at 2:00 pm with Pastor Eric Bates officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, Hendersonville Rescue Mission, or St. Bonaventure Indian School.

Bill will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those he loved.
