EUREKA - Kenneth Duane Rokey, 89, of Eureka, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka.
Kenneth was born on December 18, 1934, in Sabetha, KS, to John and Ruth (Wiegand) Rokey. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Ann Tanner on February 28, 1960. They enjoyed 64 years of marriage together.
He is survived by his wife and eight children: Cindy (Rocky) Smith of Emmett, ID, Ben (Shelley) Rokey of Eureka, Elizabeth (Mike) Robinson, Deb (Dwight) Wiegand both of Congerville, Daniel (Barbara) Rokey of Bloomfield, IA, Robert (Melissa) Rokey of Deer Creek, Fred (Megan) Rokey, and Christine (Kyle) Watson all of Congerville; 28 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one sister, Vermeda (Duane) Freidinger of Congerville; and one brother, John (Linda) Rokey of Eureka.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Eldora Olson; and an infant grandson, Matthew Rokey.
Kenneth was a lifetime farmer. He moved from Kansas to Illinois with his family when he was a young boy. He graduated from Normal Community High School in 1952. Kenneth then served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959, at Ft. Sam in San Antonio, TX, and in Germany. After he and Phyllis married, they soon bought their farm in Congerville, where they lived for 53 years and raised their children. He enjoyed his time spent on the farm and being with his family and grandchildren. After retirement, Kenneth and Phyllis moved to a home in Goodfield, where they lived until he spent his last years at the Apostolic Christian Home, where he passed.
Kenneth was a member of the Goodfield Apostolic Christian Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, trustee and on mission trips. He put his faith and trust in Jesus and lived his life being a loving and kind example to all who knew him.
A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Goodfield Apostolic Christian Church, with church ministers officiating. Visitation was held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at the Goodfield Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall. Further visitation was held from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the church. Burial was at Goodfield Congerville Apostolic Christian Cemetery immediately following the service.
Memorials may be made to Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka.
