John Rokey Obituary

He was born on April 11, 1945, in Bloomington to John Andrew and Ruth (Wiegand) Rokey. He married Linda Goeken on July 4, 1969, in Pekin.
Surviving is his loving wife of almost 55 years, Linda of Eureka; children, John Jr. (Janice) Rokey of Eureka, Andrew (Jennifer) Rokey of Eureka, Jenifer (J.T.) Frank of Washington and Matthew (Jennifer) Rokey of Washington; grandchildren, Brian (Lydia) Rokey of Deer Creek, Amanda (Ben) Springer of Deer Creek, Magdalene (Reuben) Hodel of Goodfield, Amelia Rokey and John Brett Rokey of Eureka, Lauren (Hayden) Price of Kentucky, Drew Rokey of Goodfield, Jessi Rokey of Eureka, Ashleigh Frank of Massachusetts, Jonathan Rokey and Zachary Rokey of Washington; great-grandchildren, Jake and Reid Springer, Delaney and Daphne Rokey and Charles Price; one sister Vermeda (Duane) Freidinger of Goodfield; and one sister-in-law, Phyllis Rokey of Eureka.
John was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Rokey and one sister, Eldora Olson.
John was a dedicated farmer who loved what he did working on his family farm for over 60 years. He passed down his work ethic, dedication and enjoyment for farming to his children and grandchildren.
He enjoyed tractor pulling, collecting antique tractors and woodworking.
He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He especially cherished the time he spent at the Rokey cabin with his family and friends. John's friends were important to him, and he had a special group that shared almost 55 years joining together for monthly potlucks.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 13 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Deer Creek.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in honor of John.
