Larry Watson Obituary

Larry G. Watson

April 8, 1950 - July 25, 2025

Larry G. Watson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025 at the age of 75. He was surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on April 8, 1950 in Chicago, IL. Larry was the son of Luther and Dollie Watson. The family moved to Bloomington when Larry was a young boy. He was a proud graduate of Central Catholic High School. Larry followed in his father's footsteps and became a pipefitter welder. He went on to work as a pipefitter welder in Local 99 until his retirement. He was known for his dedication, skill, and strong work ethic.

Larry married the love of his life, Lea Ann, and embraced his role as father to Brooke (Dave) and 'grampy' to Mia. He treasured every moment with his family and was happiest when surrounded by those he loved.

Larry was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and the St. Louis Cardinals. He has enjoyed cheering the Bears every home game for several years. He was known for his love of home improvement projects, hunting and fishing.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Dollie Watson; his older brother, Richard. He was also preceded in death by two newborn brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Lea Ann; his daughter, Brooke Hermanowicz (Dave Wiltz); and his granddaughter, Mia Trudo. His siblings: Alan (Donna) Watson, Michael Watson (Donna Traxler), Mark Watson, Angela Watson, Maurice Watson, and Anita (Jason) Tillman. He is also survived by nieces and nephews: Tasha Bounds, Drew Watson (Britiany Skinner), Marcus Watson (Kati Snow), Joseph Beck, Brandon (Revalynn) Beck, and Dante (JC) Tillman, and Jataun Tillman. He has a host of great-nieces and nephews: Aniya, MJ, Nariya, Bailee, Trey, and Makhi.

Larry is also remembered by many extended family members including brothers and sister-in-laws. We appreciate their comfort and solidarity during this difficult time.

He also has extended family who live near and far in Illinois and Ohio. We are grateful for their love and support during this difficult time.

Larry will be remembered for his loyalty, kindness, quiet strength, and love for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and memories he leaves behind. He will be dearly missed.

Larry and I had a U.A. 99 connection, and a tavern connection back in the day. He was a good friend of my father (Herman) and was a pallbearer at his funeral. Rest in peace, brother.
