Marcia "Marcy" Kelly, 74, of Normal, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, after a brief, unexpected battle with cancer.
Born on June 1, 1951 in Woodstock, Illinois, Marcy attended Athens High School and met her husband, Warren, at Illinois State University. They were blessed with two daughters, Beth and Kami; and three grandchildren, Gwen, Jonathan, and Kelly.
Marcy spent 33 years as an elementary school teacher in the Olympia School District. She is remembered for making all welcome in her classroom and leading efforts to create a better environment for both teachers and students. Marcy volunteered in Unit 5 as an Oakdale Elementary parent for 22 years.
Marcy was at the center of things - arranging family events, hosting friends before ISU basketball games, tracking loved ones' news, and sightseeing at historic locations. Marcy loved quilting and her community of local quilters, creating sentimental pieces that will be treasured for years to come. Marcy enjoyed card games, delivering baked goods, and attending book club gatherings with fellow retired teachers.
Marcy was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Marthanna Kelly; and her sister, Kathy Kelly. She is survived by her husband, Warren; daughters, Beth Rodts (Joe), and Kami Irvin (David Barlow); siblings, Connie Lyons, Steve Kelly (Debbie), Julie Robinson (Tim); sister-in-law Ann Morger (Doug); and brother-in-law Jon Kreiter; and grandchildren, Gwen (16), Jonathan (14), and Kelly (8) Rodts. She leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., followed by a service at 4 p.m., Saturday, October 11th at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington.
