Marge Missel

STREATOR - Marge Missel, 89, of Streator, died the morning of Christmas Eve 2023 at home in bed, surrounded by family.
The family will host a celebration of life in spring of 2024.
She is survived by her children: Stephen (Amy) Missel of MI, Donald (Dean Berndt) Missel of Normal, Jane (Lee Hubert) Missel of Hardy, VA, Susan Goodwin of Denver, CO, Sharon Missel of Davenport, IA; and grandson, Brian Missel, who she raised; grandchildren: Sara Missel, Amanda (Jeff Daniels) Missel, Lauren Pittman; and great-grandchildren: Maya and Caden Missel-Daniels.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Missel; her son, Timothy Missel; granddaughters: Natasha Pittman and Laura Missel; great-grandson, Aiden Missel-Daniels; and brothers: John and Bill Sanford.
Born June 6, 1934 to Edward and Frances Sanford. She was a lifelong resident of Streator, attending Streator High School where she met her husband, Lee Missel, whom she married October 27, 1952.
Marge worked at Owens Illinois Glass for 34 years, before retiring with her husband.
She spent her later years traveling and devoting time volunteering with St. Mary's Hospital, the Salvation Army, and with reading programs at Oakland Park Elementary. She was a longtime member of Central Church of Christ.
