BLOOMINGTON - Mary R. McCubbins, 31, of Bloomington, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center.
A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Her memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 29, 2022, at St. Mary's Church, Bloomington. Inurnment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bloomington immediately following services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made payable to the Illinois State University Foundation, Campus Box 8000, Normal, IL, 61790-8000 (memo: Mary Ruth McCubbins).

She was born August 6, 1991, in Normal, daughter of Timmy L. and Peggy A. Hirsch McCubbins.
Surviving are her parents, Tim and Peggy, of Bloomington; three sisters: Rebecca (Mike) Spencer of Clarksville, TN, Sara (Scott) Spaniol of Bolingbrook and Hana McCubbins of Bloomington. Also surviving are seven nieces and nephews and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mary was a 2009 graduate of Bloomington High School and went on to receive her Associate's Degree from Heartland Community College. She furthered her education at Illinois State University, where she participated in the Arts Technology Program, graduating with her Master's Degree.
Mary enjoyed her work in digital marketing at Sam Leman. Her interests include photography, playing and listening to music and movies, especially Disney and Marvel, but her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with family and friends.

Mary was one of the three amigos in the marketing office at Sam Leman Automotive corporate. You could always count on her to be chuckling or saying something to make you smile. She had a heart that would hone in on whoever she was with and she would just meet them where they were at and slowly begin to plant seeds. She did that to encourage and guide them along their way because she loved all. I knew this characteristic about Mary at our family´s business, but after Mass today, I found out it was true of her whole life. There will never be another Mary that is for sure! But she will certainly never be forgotten by her family at Sam Leman´s. I think she would say to us all, to encourage ourselves that we get to see her in heaven soon and to be excited about how wonderful that reunion to come will be. But while we are yet here on earth, she would say to live by the model Jesus Christ set before us and lift up one another in our walks!
It was such a pleasure to meet the family today at Mass. You are all loved and being prayed for. I hope I have the chance to see the parents again and hear some of the stories that Mary said. I´ve heard many renditions from my brother and Chad, but often not Mary. She was strategically silent sometimes which further proves she was the mastermind behind many events in the marketing office. I also wish I could have given you both a hug but hope you felt the love regardless. God bless all your family.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your daughter Mary. So many years ago I remember our kids playing on your back garage landing with their bikes and yellow and red pedal cars. Even though it has been years since seeing you, those neighborhood memories still hold a special place in my heart. Deepest sympathies to your family.
