Norman Ehrlich
February 7, 1942 - July 20, 2025
Norman Ehrlich peacefully joined our Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 20th, surrounded by his loving family and dogs, leaving behind a legacy of strength, faith, and dedication. His passing came at the age of 83 after a brief, but courageous, battle with leukemia.
He is survived by Rebecca Ehrlich; his two daughters, Lindsay (Chris) Marlin in Las Vegas, NV and Molly (Evan) Doughty in Lakewood Ranch, FL; and five cherished grandchildren, Jackson Holder, Camden Holder, Estella Marlin, Calvin Doughty, and Miles Doughty. Also surviving are his brother Howard (Judy) Ehrlich and sister Diana (John) Behnke. Norm was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Roger and Ronald.
Born in Bloomington, IL to Arthur and Carolyn (Oertwig) Ehrlich, Norm grew up on a farm near Danvers: he was an active member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA), showcasing sheep at McLean County fair, Illinois State fair and many others. Norm was involved in the 4-H club Silverleaf Let's Go, where he won numerous ribbons for his efforts; and later he went on to became a star basketball player at Normal Community High School, where his athleticism and effort shown brightly.
While attending Illinois State University, Norm was drafted into the Army, where he demonstrated his strength and determination by setting the record for fastest obstacle course completion during basic training. He also started his career journey into the clothing business at Moberly and Kenner where he went on to be a partner.
Norm built houses for many years, including the family home where he raised his children. He took great pride in maintaining a perfectly manicured lawn and pool. Norm would later sell cars at Leman Chevy City, where he was renowned for his impeccable style and serious approach to dressing.
Norm's love of sports extended beyond the court; he was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, St. Louis Cardinals, and Chicago Bulls. Car Racing was also in his blood as he attended numerous NASCAR events, inspiring his oldest grandson to pursue competitive racing.
After retirement, Norm moved to Las Vegas to join his daughter and grandchildren. This selfless act exemplified his character, as he consistently put the needs of those around him before his own. In his later years he could still outpace his grandchildren in foot races and pick-up basketball games. His spirit and legacy will live on forever not only in his family, but also in those who had the opportunity to know him.
Faith was at the core of Norm's life. A faithful servant of God, he instilled his values and beliefs in his children, which they consider to be the greatest gift he could have given them.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to Palm Mortuary. Friends and family can leave memories and condolences on their website where the memorial service date will be updated soon:
