Robert Bane List, 91, passed away on June 24, 2025, in Bloomington, Illinois.
Born on January 9, 1934, Robert was a graduate of Saybrook High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1953 to 1956. Over the years, he was an active member of various United Methodist churches, reflecting a life grounded in faith and community.
Robert had a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and creativity. He enjoyed working with stained glass and woodworking, often building things with care and precision. An avid reader and Civil War history enthusiast, he also found joy in following Cardinals baseball.
He is lovingly remembered by his three daughters: Susan List of Schaumburg, IL; Cindy (Jim) Lyons; and Kathy List, both of Bloomington, IL. His legacy continues through his two granddaughters, Jamie (Rob) Langworthy of Garland, Texas; and Kelsey Lyons of Plano, Texas; as well as three great-grandchildren: Kate, Charlie, and Caroline Langworthy.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Leatha (Bane) List; siblings Stanley List, Louise Craig, and Jean Hudson; and in-laws Blanche List and Bud Hudson.
He was married to Gail Hoover in 1955; they divorced in 1992. In 1994 he married Nancy Thompson; they divorced in 2009. Nancy has since passed away.
A visitation will be held on July 10 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m., at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington, Illinois.
