Robert Lee Merrill, 80, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2025, at his home.

Bob was born February 3, 1944, in Bloomington, a son of Raymond and Bonnie (French) Merrill. He is a graduate of Normal Community High School and he attended Eureka College where he played football. For most of his career he worked as a tool and die maker for various companies. In his spare time he was an avid fisherman, loved nature, and watching the Packers and Cardinals play.

Bob is survived by his children, Lori (Patrick) Powell, Tina (Wally) Fowler, and Rob Merrill; along with five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his brother, Vernon (Sharon) Merrill and his beloved cat companion "Miss Kitty". He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Raymond Merrill; and a sister, Vie Hamilton.

He was a loving father, grandfather, and brother who will be deeply missed by all his family and fishing buddies who knew and loved him.

A visitation for Bob will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Beck Memorial Home with a memorial service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jason Collins officiating.

The family suggests memorials to be made to the Pet Central Helps! animal rescue.
