Ronald Edward "Ron" Parsons
July 14, 1943 - July 27, 2024
BLOOMINGTON - Ronald Edward "Ron" Parsons, age 81, of Bloomington, IL, passed away at 4:40 AM on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington IL.
Visitation will be 11:30 AM-1:00 PM on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, IL. His graveside service will be 3:00 PM Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Funks Grove Cemetery, McLean, IL with Military Rites accorded by the Bloomington-Normal American Legion Honor Guard. The family suggests memorials be made to Faith In Action, Midwest Food Bank, Towanda Boy Scouts or Land of Lincoln Honor Flight.
Ron was born July 14, 1943, in Indianapolis, IN the son of Edgar and Mildred (Lunsford) Parsons. He married Ruth Marie Hettinger on June 12, 1965 at Roberts Park Methodist Church in Indianapolis, IN. She survives.
Also surviving are his two children: Jeff Parsons, Seattle, WA, Kathy Chandler, Park Ridge, IL; four grandchildren: Bob, Kiera, Max and Drew; two brothers: Lee Parsons, Indianapolis, IN, Keith (Susan) Parsons, Avon, IN; and his sister in-law, Eileen Parsons, Lizton, IN.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Danny Parsons.
Ron was a graduate of Avon High School in Avon, IN. He received a Math degree from Purdue University and an MBA from the University of Illinois. He also proudly served as a Communications Officer in the Air Force during the Vietnam era.
Ron worked at State Farm for 35 years in Systems Management and taught for two years at Eureka College as an Adjunct Professional of Economics and Management.
He also gave back to the community in many ways by volunteering his time to the following organizations: Boy of Scouts of America, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, YMCA, Towanda Volunteer Fire Department, McLean County Nursing Home, Faith in Action and Special Olympics Illinois.

I will miss you so much, we just spoke about family history on July 23 and had prepared an email for you only to hear of this sad news. He was a mentor for me infamy ways over the years. He was a true and genuine man. God was sent an angel. Love Terri Messer Lueschen.
