Ruth I. Abbott

May 10, 1927 - October 6, 2025

Ruth I. Abbott, age 98, of Normal, Ilinois, passed away peacefully at 9:30 p.m., on Monday, October 6, 2025, at the McLean County Nursing Home in Normal.

Ruth was born on May 10, 1927, in Sidell, Ill., the daughter of Peter and Ellen Ferne Warrick Powers. She married Lynn E. Abbott on October 26, 1946, in Peoria, Ill. Together they shared many years until Lynn's passing on December 14, 2014.

She is survived by her children, Diane Martino of Congerville, Ill., and Daryl Abbott of Normal, Ill.; her granddaughter, Staci (Rodney) Price of Clinton, Ill.; great-grandson, Austin Wickenhauser of Wapella, Ill.; step-great-grandson, Nick (Victoria) Price of Clinton, Ill.; sister-in-law, Genny Powers of Pana, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Vaughn Martino; and brother, James Powers.

A private family graveside service will be held at Park Lawn Cemetery in Danvers, Ill., with Rev. Steve Evans officiating. In respect to the family's wishes, there will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Central Illinois.

Arrangements are entrusted to Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, Ill.
