Shirley Faye Yunker, 88, of Rutland, Ill. passed away at 5:12 a.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at OSF St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ottawa.
She was born on October 7, 1936 in Ramsey, Ill. to Frank and Grace Pope Sanders. She married Arnold Yunker on November 22, 1954 in Vandalia, Ill. He passed away on March 23, 2006.
Survivors include her children, Andrew Lee Yunker of Princeton, Ill.; David Arlan (Kimberly) Yunker of Toluca, Ill.; Wanda Elaine (Millie) Yunker of Bakersfield, Calif.; Jeffrey Neil (Laurie) Yunker of Wenona, Ill.; Peggy Anne Clydesdale of DePue, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Shirley was a graduate of Nokomis High School in southern Illinois. When she was small, she was stricken with polio in the pre-vaccination era. Because of her disability, she rode her pony "Beauty" to school.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 25, 2024 at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Minonk. Pastor Jay Hurd will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery in Flanagan.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Shriner's Children's Hospital. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.ruestmanharrisfuneralhome.com.
