Steven L. Hibbs

GRIDLEY - Steven L. Hibbs, 75, of Gridley, IL, passed away at 4:55 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Carle BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.
He was born on August 10, 1948, in Phoenix, AZ, a son of Howard L. and Lois L. Zantow Hibbs. He married Roslyn J. Funk on May 14, 1978, in Lake Bloomington, IL. She survives.
Survivors also include two daughters: Cara (Shawn) Lemenager of Owings Mills, MD, Jerelyn (Chris) Gebhart of Washington, IL; one sister, Paula Windler of Chandler, AZ; six grandchildren: Mya, Avery, Celia Lemenager, and Asher Chloe, Everly Gebhart.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Steve was a member of Community Bible Fellowship in El Paso where he served as a Sunday School teacher and elder. He was also a part-time minister at Hudson Baptist Church. He graduated from Delavan High School. Steve served in the United States Navy on board on the U.S.S. Little Rock in the 6th Fleet from 1966-1969. His life changed completely when he became a follower of Jesus Christ. His passion in life was to teach God's Word.
Steve reached out to others to help them in any way he could. He was devoted to his wife, daughters, and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at the Gridley Apostolic Christian Fellowship Hall. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso, and also from 9:00 - 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday at the fellowship hall. Burial will be in Gridley Cemetery where military rites will be accorded at the grave.

In total shock upon hearing the incredibly sad news of Steven's passing. I have known him for almost 30 years and he has always been an extremely kind man who loves his wife, his girls, and our Lord. God bless his entire family as they mourn a truly great man.
