William Noble Obituary
William "Bill" Noble passed away on April 24, 2025 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was 77. A graduate of Gibson City High School and Monmouth College, he served in the U.S. Army at Fort Carson, Colorado, before spending a career in the agriculture business.
Bill worked in seed sales at several companies, including the Noble Brothers Seed Company and Bear Hybrids (Gibson City, IL); Wyffels Hybrids (Geneseo, IL); and Dow Agrisciences (Indianapolis, IN).
An avid, lifelong Chicago Bears, University of Illinois, and St. Louis Cardinals fan, he was a regular in local and regional golf tournaments on the weekends. He had a love of the Special Olympics, which he supported for years in service. In later years he read extensively and was quick to give his books away to friends and family.
A resident of Champaign, IL, Bill attended First Baptist Church in Savoy, IL.
He is predeceased by parents Janet and John Noble of Gibson City, IL. In addition to his son, Bill, Jr. (Marissa) of Frankfort, IL and daughter, Lisa (Matt) of Williamsburg, VA, Bill is survived by his wife of 52 years, Beth of Champaign-Urbana, IL; by his brother, John (Laurie) of Normal, IL and sister, Mary (George) English of Rockford, IL; by his sister-in-law, Ivye Benson of Michigan City, IN; numerous nieces and nephews; and by six grandchildren, Will, Paige, Alex, Annalise, Jameson and Jonas. To these, especially, he will always be the legendary "Pappy." To all of us, he will always be in our hearts and memories.
Bill's family will hold a private graveside service in Drummer Township Cemetery officiated by Reverend Joe Sanders. The family will also hold a Celebration of Life for friends and family on July 14, 3:30-5 p.m., at Railside Golf Club, Gibson City, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: 1 - First Baptist Church, 1602 S. Prospect Ave., Savoy, IL 61874; and 2 - Special Olympics Illinois, 605 E. Willow St., Normal, IL 61761.

I enjoyed visiting with Bill when he was in Bloomington visiting his brother John. I have good memories of visiting my uncle Ronnie who worked for Noble Brothers Seeds.
