William Sullivan Obituary

William Donald Sullivan, Age 87, left this world and entered into his eternal home on February 10, 2026. His full and remarkable life left an impression on everyone he met. He will be greatly missed.

Born in Springfield, PA to Donald and Esther Sullivan, he grew up in a loving and stable home. He attended Penn State and graduated with a psychology degree. There, he met his first wife, Beatrice Trolier, and they married August 12, 1961 in Honey Brook, PA. They had two children, Beth and Kelly, who had a very blessed life thanks to his strong work ethic and devotion to family. After Bea's death in 2000, Teri entered his life and helped heal his heart. They were married for 25 years and built a strong love for each other and their combined family.

Don started working for State Farm Insurance Company in 1962 as an entry level personnel employee. He completed his MBA from Georgetown University and was promoted and moved his family across the nation while climbing the corporate ladder. Many insurance certificates were also obtained through the years. He eventually became the president of the State Farm Fire Company before retiring after 40 years with the company. He was a respected man of principles in the corporate world and sat on many boards bringing his vast experiences and knowledge to the tables.

He lived life fully and found joy in fishing, hunting, and camping with family and friends. He was a private pilot and avid runner. He found joy in traveling and made wonderful memories wherever he went. Don loved life and really connected with people he met. If someone had a need, he did what he could to meet it and help others get on their feet with encouragement and support. Don Sullivan was a man who did the right thing, at the right time, and for the right reasons. He was a man with true integrity who loved God and his family. He was an excellent example of our Heavenly Father here on earth. He is now with the Lord and we rejoice that he is at peace and in his heavenly home.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 28, at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 11575 N 1st Ave, in Oro Valley, AZ at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Tim Nybroten will officiate. We have so many happy memories of times with Don, first as a work associate and then through many shared interests like skiing, fishing, golfing, and travel. Through Teri's initiation, we took several memorable trips together--especially New Zealand, South Africa, and the Panama Canal. Don was always an inquisitive and enjoyable travel companion. Even though our travel days ended, we still enjoyed our shared memories and good times. Don was a special friend and he will be missed.

Don served on the Board at Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA during the early 1990s. He would fly from Philadelphia to central Pennsylvania for his meetings. I would pick him up at the local airport and take him to where he was going. He was always kind and appreciative towards me.

I also remember his commitment to professional development. He would take time out of his busy executive schedule to attend and participate with his employee groups.

A good man and a life well lived.

Don was my boss for many years and I loved working for him. He was a great guy and probably the kindest boss I ever had. My condolences to his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.
