Marla Mason Obituary

Marla Mason, long-time resident of Paradise, passed away October 19, 2009. She was born in Yuba City on March 19, 1953 and spent most of her childhood living in California, most notably Live Oak and San Bernardino where the majority of her schooling took place. She graduated from Eisenhower High School in Rialto in 1970.

She married Paul Mason in 1979 and became a loving wife and mother to two wonderful children, Lacy and Brittan. She worked as a preschool teacher in both Chico and Paradise and as an aide at St. Thomas More School in Paradise for six years. She was also gifted in interior design and worked at Ron's Decorator Shop in Paradise for two years. A very talented and unique woman, Marla possessed a quick wit and caring nature that enlightened those who loved her. Marla's greatest passions were the Beatles, playing the piano, and her dog Chauncy.

Marla is preceded in death by her mother, Phyllis Hummer; her father, Donald Hummer; and her brother John Hummer. She is survived by her loving husband. Paul Mason of Paradise; her daughters, Lacy Mason of Sacramento and Brittan Mason of Kanab, UT; and her aunt, Carole Siebert of Banning, CA. She will be greatly missed by all her knew her.

Services were private. Interment was at the Chico Cemetery.

Mr. Mason, Paul. I am so sorry to hear about your wife. I remember her being a vibrant strong woman and a loving wife and mother. She was far to young to have left this world but I know that she will always be with you and your girls.
