Melanie Stuart Obituary

Melanie Amelia Rose Stuart passed away after a long illness on January 11, 2011; she was 81 years old.

Melanie was born on July 27, 1929 in Toronto, Canada. She spoke several languages, played classical piano and was a skilled Registered Nurse. She continued her nursing career after moving her family to Los Angeles in 1965.There she raised her children and supported them in every activity they wanted to experience. After she divorced and later married Robert in 1982, she retired and moved to Paradise, CA. She enjoyed square dancing, playing dominos with friends and traveling the world. Melanie was a gifted seamstress and knit the most beautiful sweaters. She would laugh and say that all of her talents skipped a generation and went right to her granddaughter Dana. She had a good sense of humor and handled herself with grace and class. She will be deeply missed, but will live on in our hearts.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years Robert Stuart of Paradise, son Doug Pereira of Los Angeles, daughter Diane Schumacher of Chico and beloved granddaughter Dana Oines of Washington D.C. and extended Stuart and Schumacher family.

A private family Celebration of Life will be held on January 28, 2011. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Alzheimer's Association.

My mother was a strong force in my life growing up. She always handled herself with dignity and pride and tried to pass that on to my sister and me. She made reading and studying a priority, yet let us follow our own passions. She was an excellent nurse who could intimidate a doctor when she was right, which was most of the time. She was strict but fair and she had a huge heart. She was my mom and will always be in my heart. I love you, mom, I will miss you. Your son Doug
