Carrol Blanton, 87, passed away on June 24, 2012 in Deer Park, TX. He was born on April 18, 1925 in Clearwater, FL to Ollin and Dora Blanton. Carrol served in the Marine Corps. during WWII. on the isle of Sipan, and received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a true American hero. Carrol was a long time resident of Pasadena, and retired from Diamond Shamrock after being employed for 30 years. Everyone Carrol came in contact with enjoyed his company. He was the "life of the party", always doing something funny and getting laughs. Carrol loved sports and being outdoors, and played in a softball league. He was a family man, and treasured spending weekends with his wife and children going on fun outings and having adventures. Carrol was blessed with and adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; 6 brothers; and 5 sisters. Carrol is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Marie Blanton; 1 daughter, Linda Lightfoot (Billy); 2 sons, Barry Blanton, and Steve Blanton (Bonnie); 1 brother, Johnny Blanton (Joanna); 6 grandchildren, Brandi, Bobbi, Brittani, Brooke, Ronny, and Tonya; and 5 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00-8:00 p. m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Grand View Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Grand View Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Grand View Memorial Park. I am truly blessed to have had such an amazing man as my grandpa, the best grandpa a girl could ever ask for. Words can't express how much I love and appreciate him. I miss him tremendously! I'm grateful to have so many great memories of him to help ease the pain.
