Elwood B. Roy, Jr., (E.B.), 75, of Pasadena, TX entered Heaven's glory on May 19, 2012. He was born on the 23rd of January 1937 in Jenningston, West Virginia to Elwood B. Roy, Sr. and Mary Jane Roy. E.B. was the youngest of 10 children and his siblings affectionately called him "June". He joined the U.S. Navy, proud to serve his country. This brought him to Texas where he would meet his beautiful wife, Kathy and raise two daughters, Cyndee and Kimberly. He worked at the Goodyear Manufacturing Plant in Beaumont, TX for many years before moving in 1978 with his family to Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia. There he worked in the oil industry making the return trip home in 1980 to permanently settle in Pasadena, TX, retiring in 2003 from the Bayer Corporation in Baytown.
E.B. was proud to be a 32nd degree Mason and belonged to the Archives Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M., #1399. While there, he served twice as Past Master and for many years led the School of Instruction. He was given the Golden Trowel Award and held numerous certificates for his knowledge of Masonry. E.B. was appointed by the Grand Lodge of Texas A.F. & A.M. to be a District Instructor holding this position for many years. The Grand Lodge also appointed him the honor of serving the office of District Deputy. In addition to his servitude to the Masonic Lodge, E.B. also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #1095, serving as the Past Worthy Patron twice. He was extremely involved with Lodge charities always eager to help others.
E.B. had a zest for life and his house was always filled with laughter from all the jokes and stories he told. He was a wonderful husband and father making sure his family was always well taken care of. He adored his grandchildren and made time to take them to Dairy Queen. Having a fondness for gardening, he grew some of the best roses in town. He had a passion to help those less fortunate and always gave the best of himself in everything he did.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Kathy Roy; his daughters, Cyndee Winters (Gene); Kimberly Coker (Jeff); his much loved grandchildren, Kayla Coker, Jonathan Coker and Elijah Winters; sisters, Dorles Teter of West Virginia, Thelma Patrick of Pennsylvania, Violet Rutstrom of Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends. In addition to his parents, E.B. is preceded in death by sisters, Mabel Ketterman, Beulah Hay, and Clara Waters; brothers, Raymond Roy, Asa Roy, and Shannon Roy.
Chapel services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 23rd at Niday-Fairmont Funeral Home. He was interred at Grand View Memorial Park in Pasadena. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Resolutions Hospice, P.O. Box 342586, Austin, TX 78734.
