Frances Highfield Obituary

Frances Josephine "Jo" Highfield, 99 of Deer Park, Texas, born June 4, 1917 to Charles E. and Monnie McLendon Summers in Henderson, Texas passed from this life on June 22, 2016 in Deer Park. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman J. Highfield Sr. and brother Donald R. Summers. She is survived by her son Norman Highfield and wife Judy; granddaughter Callie Jo. Jo had a love for books and was an avid reader. Upon moving to Deer Park in 1960, she became a librarian in Deer Park ISD where she remained for 26 years until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Deer Park, where she served as the librarian for many years. She was also a member of the Silver Set Class. Jo was loved by many and will be deeply missed. Funeral service was held 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 28 in the Chapel of the First Baptist Church of Deer Park, 438 E. 8th Street, Deer Park. Graveside service was held 3:00 PM Tuesday at Lakewood Memorial Park, Henderson, Texas.

Every memory of Jo is wonderful. She was one of the most remarkable women I have ever known and a joy to be around. I will miss her but I am grateful for the time she spent on this earth as a loving and caring Christian woman.
