Guy R. Lankford, Sr., 88 of Santa Fe, Texas, passed away August 1, 2013. Guy was a longtime resident of Pasadena, Texas. Guy was a veteran of WWII and a participant of the invasion of Normandy. Like many of the great generation he returned from the war and went to work to support his wife and baby son. Guy worked for Eastern States, Signal Oil and Charter Oil refineries till his retirement. In his youth he was a Golden Gloves boxer. Guy helped organize the Pasadena Girls Softball League and for many years was a manager and assistant manager for the Blue Angels team. Gus was a proud member of Pasadena Lodge No. 1155 A. F. & A. M. Guy played the guitar in a small band and country music club and volunteered his time to play at local nursing homes. Guy was a member of the Alvin Opry and the Manuel Opry. Guy is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Phyllis Quarterman Lankford and son Guy R. Lankford, Jr. Guy is survived by two daughters Priscilla David and husband Mike; Donna Johnson; three sisters Pearl Harris, Audrey Franklin and Ruth Melendez; Granddaughters Terri Shotwell, Leslie Nichols and Robyn Truax; grandson Kevin Lankford; many great grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday Aug 6 in the Chapel of Deer Park Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until service time Tuesday

I knew all the Lankfords in Pasadena when they lived on Tilden street. I went to school with Guy Jr. Sorry for your loss.

My hubby Kenneth Sills, passed in 2007, But worked for many years with Guy at the plant, the men out there was like family, if one had a problem , they all had a problem. My thoughts are with you all, & I know you are gonna miss this great man.
