Janie Marie Seymore, 62, died peacefully at home in Sugar Land TX embraced and surrounded by family Aug 5, 2014. She was born in Bunkie LA July 18, 1952, to Amie Gauthier and Dora Vercher; adopted by James Annoot and Lena Amalfi; raised in Pasadena TX; and graduated '71 in Deer Park. Janie worked at Brown and Root, later owned Kwik Cash Pasadena, and retired in 2013 after 20+ years. Janie is preceded by brother Jimmy Gauthier and survived by daughter Mandy Sensat and husband Jeff of Sugar Land; son Brian Seymore and wife Melissa of Houston; sister Mary Mims and husband Alan of Deer Park (children Michael, Craig, Ashley); stepsisters Barbara and Rita Burnham resp. of Salt Lake City UT / Jerome ID; stepbrother Larry Annoot of El Cajon CA; grandson Nathan Alexander of Chicago IL; and best friend Gloria Nink of Houston. Janie enjoyed reading and traveling; she was a skilled seamstress and quilter. As cofounder of Center Stage Performing Arts Studio & Theatre in Deer Park and treasurer of its lauded Slightly Off Center Players acting troupe, she was an avid community and arts supporter, volunteering innumerable hours costuming, managing and assisting with theatre / performance events. At a height of 4'8" (affectionately nicknamed "Mini Mom" and "Pocket Mom" by hundreds of her "theatre babies") Janie's reputation for kindness towered. The family requests in lieu of flowers donations to either Nat'l Breast Cancer Foundation or the Janie Seymore Memorial Scholarship Fund (http://bit.ly/1nwa4ct) for college tuition to graduating high school arts students. A celebration of Janie's life takes place Sunday, August 17, 2014, in Sugar Land Auditorium (226 Lakeview Dr, Sugar Land TX 77479) at 4 p.m. Attendees are urged to wear colorful clothing to create a human quilt in honor of her lifelong passion for sewing threads of compassion and love.

I had the honor of having Janie as my wife for 16 years. She touched my heart in such a way that I have never remarried. Always hoped we could put it back together. To say that I am troubled my her early passing is an understatement. By all rights this special lady should have outlived me as she was 4 years my junior. Janie and Mary were raised by J.C. and Lena Annoot, in Christian home that they helped they adopted parents build. While Janie and I had a house in Houston, I have often regretted we did not make it in Pasadena so our children could have shared more time with Mary's children and their grand-parents. Lena was Italian and her cooking is still remembered. And Janie followed her example of caring for her family. She was a blessing to all that knew her; family, friends or a stranger. Janie had a way of making you feel special, and she did it from the heart. She is missed.
