I miss you so much. You were my rock. You were my work spouse. LOL!It will never be the same for me as I will never find another friend like you......although I'm not sure I could handle another friend like you. :) My heart aches but I take comfort in the fact that I have someone on my side up above. I pray you found peace. I will be forever missing you.

Dear Ms. Wiley and Dean Flynn,

I am heart broken to hear about Jason, he was in my cohort and a dear
friend. I had no idea he had died and was both shocked and deeply saddened
to learn about his death just now.

Everything you wrote about Jason was so true, he was so dedicated and
hopeful to his causes and what he was going to do with his MSW, it's hard to
believe he will not be at graduation as we had all planned to throw a big
party during our time in CA.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting us, the VAC students
know about his passing as I am sure he had many friends on here as well as
in his personal life. He will be sorely missed and I personally thank you
for setting up the scholarship fund in his name. He would have loved that so
much.

God bless you all, Anna Diliberti

I just want Jason's family to know he was a great inspiration to many students in the USC VAC. The social work he wanted to achieve in life will be continued by the rest of us who are working to complete our degree. I will do my best to keep his "spirit of giving" alive.

I'm a current USC masters student at the San Diego Academic Center. We were just notified of Jason's death and I felt inclined to relay my deepest condolences. Our dean has e-mailed the entire center a beautiful summary of Jasons passion for social work. I felt inclined to share it...

"I am saddened to announce the unexpected death of Jason Stancil, a well-regarded part-time student in our Virtual Academic Center. Jason enrolled in the January 2011 cohort and since that time, had been active in blogging, interaction with students in his classes, and with his professors. With a long-standing interest in mental health, he had most recently been deeply involved in work with veterans through the Department of Veterans Affairs in Nevada. He was interested in almost every aspect of challenges faced by those whom he sought to help and had taken many prior courses to further his understanding of HIV/AIDS, homelessness, substance abuse, and mental illness. His social work degree would have solidified this preparation for a career to which he was dedicated. A graduate of the University of Washington in Seattle, Jason was a person of high potential - bi-lingual, personally outgoing, committed to understanding and empowering those who suffered from discrimination
or marginalization, and intellectually engaged. He was highly regarded by his professors.

The School will establish a scholarship for VAC students in his name as a remembrance of his past contributions and the potential he represented.

Marilyn Flynn, Dean"

Jason, I may have not been able to meet you in person, but as the VAC Rep, I respected the efforts that you made on behalf of social work and the Virtual Academic Center at USC. As a fellow classmate, I know that you worked hard as a student of the online MSW program. May you rest in peace.

You were a good man Jason. You never judged me on the mess I looked on the outside. I always had a ton of respect for you. Your strength and brilliance was admirable. Your cousin's story of the Siena incident solidifies that. My thoughts have been with you and your family. You will never be forgotten.

Cousin,

When I think of you, I think...smart, handsome, fun, whitty, courageous, ambitious...I think of your million dollar smile and your contageous laugh (just to name a few).

I am going to miss the way you tell your stories because of how animtated you are. My fav will always be the Siena story lol when you were asked to give back the Siena's uniform on your last day (I think you quit). Your supervisor demanded that you give back their uniform and you told your surpervisor that you didnt have any extra clothes to change into. Apparently she didnt know you because after a few exchange of some choice words to eachother...you decided to give the uniform back to her right then and there! I can just picture it now, I wish I was there in person to witness you stripping down to your boxers and handing them over to that lady lol I would pay mony to see the look on her face when you said..."Here's your uniform back, or do you want the boxers too." As you walk through the casino as if nothing.

I love how you always get the last laugh...I mean always too and you were never cruel about it either, you were smart about it!

I will never forget all the fun we had together I love you so much and will miss you terribly! You are such an AMAZING person Jason! Pride doesnt describe the feeling I have to be able to call you my friend, my family,
my cousin and now my angel.

Until we meet again my sweet angel...

Love,
Your Cousin
xoxo
