Jerry Scott Johnson, 50, of Deer Park, passed from this world while at home on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, after a six month struggle with renal cell carcinoma, kidney cancer.
Born on April 23, 1963, to John and Glenda Johnson, Scott was raised in Missouri, but soon after graduating high school, he embarked on a career which included industrial machining and fabricating, welding, pipe fitting, solar technology and auto cad design. Moreover, from the time he was fifteen, Scott worked in a variety of jobs from popcorn salesman to health studio consultant, sometimes for a company, but often as an independent contractor. As a sometime entrepreneur, Scott also bought and sold machinery, vehicles and miscellaneous items, always with an eye toward profitability. Personally and professionally ambitious, Scott was a tireless worker, energetic and eager to learn new techniques and technologies. He worked easily with others, always imparting his knowledge to the benefit of anyone nearby. Scott mixed well with people, sharing his thoughts while listening and learning. Scott was caring and courteous, gaining the friendship and respect of all.
Scott was an avid fisherman who successfully enjoyed the sport, whether on a bank or beach, dock, wading, or in a kayak or boat. When out with friends, Scott almost invariably had the biggest catch, and a fish fry often followed. He often spoke of the imminent fulfillment of one project or another with the greatest enthusiasm. His gregarious nature will be sorely missed.
Scott is survived by his more than a wife, his Angel, Susan Pagel and nine stepchildren: Phyllis, Georgia, Stacy, Bobby, Sara, Laurie, Jolie, Rick and Ashley; his father John Johnson; his brother Brent and wife Medina Corwin; sister Pam and husband Sean Dudley; sister Tricia and husband Pat Moore; sister Julie and Dean Greg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Scott is preceeded in death by his brother Mike and mother Glenda.
A memorial and internment followed.

From the first time I met Scott, he was a fun loving guy. When you saw Scott he was always the same. You could see how much Scott loved his family. You will be missed.

Scott, no one could or ever will tell a story quite like you. I remember the first time I met you & how my gut ached from laughter after a day with the Johnsons at Stockton Lake...a day rife with tales of you catching wild animals with your bare hands, chasing your sister & friends around a car with a live possum, and exploring MO caves in your youth. From that day I was a die-hard Scott fan. My day was MADE when I'd get to hear the next 'Scott' story from your sis, Trisha. This world misses you greatly, wild man.

He was a kind and wonderful friend who showed the greatest respect for me. He was fun and we were young and fast friends. We grew up and apart but he was always a sliver of my heart. Thanks for such nice times, Scott! Happy you found such a lovely lady to share your life with and what a life you lived!

God blessed us with such a great guy in Scott Johnson. So sad that he's not around to tell us the next animal story, or just to hear that tall tale only he knew how to tell ! Until we meet again in Heaven, we will miss you here. Love your friend Tonya Dywer.
