Jimmie Sherrill (Jim) Ladd, (August 12, 1943 - June 25, 2013), age 69, was the son of the late Pearl (Totsy) Deggs Ladd and Lonnie Lee Ladd of Clawson, Texas. He graduated from Central High School of Pollok in 1961. After high school Jim earned his Journeyman's license in carpentry. In 1962, he joined the United States Navy, serving as an electrician aboard the U. S. S. Monticello in China and the Phillipines and off shore in Vietnam (Tonkin Bay). He was honorably discharged in 1966 and came home to Texas in 1967 and began work at USI. Thirty-three years later, in January of 2000, he retired as Supervisor and gave his full time to his gun business, known as the Tinker Shop. Jim was devoted to his family; he loved all things Texan. He was an avid fan of the Houston Rockets and the Houston Texans. He loved John Wayne's image as the man who cared for his family and protected all the things Americans cherish in family life. He would have loved being an old time western man. He was a hunter and fisherman in every aspect. He became a master craftsman of custom knives. Jim's real love and passion in life was guns. His incredible knowledge of guns was recognized and respected by all who knew him. On November 21, 1964, Jim married Rondena Philpot of Deer Park, Texas. They had three children: Jimmie Lee, Lonnie Wayne, and Anita Sherryl. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest brother, Lonnie Edwin (only 2 months ago), sister-in-law, Frances Ladd and brother-in-law John Fredricks. His survivors include his wife, Rondena Philpot Ladd of Deer Park; children, Jimmie Lee Ladd, Lonnie and wife Pam Ladd, Anita Ladd Buffaloe and husband Bryan all of Deer Park: brother, Loy Ladd and wife Velda of Deer Park; sister, Lois Ladd Swinney of Houston; mother-in-law Elsie Philpot of Deer Park; sister-in-law Delores Fredricks of Deer Park; sister-in-law Shirley Ladd of Lufkin; grandchildren, Airman First Class Josh Dray and wife Misty of England, Lonnie Ladd, Brendon Buffaloe, Braden Buffaloe and Brynlee Buffaloe all of Deer Park; great-grandchildren, Jessica Dray, Jacob Dray of England; numerous nieces and nephews who admired "Uncle Jim". Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM July 1, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Deer Park, 438 E. 8th Street, Deer Park. Family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Sunday, June 30 at the Church. I'm sorry to learn of Jimmy's passing. I have not seen him in many years but I still have fond memories of being in classes with Jimmy at Central HS in Pollok. I pray our God will bless his family with peace during these trying days and weeks. C B Luce - class of 1961
