Margaret A. Jakir went to be with The Lord on New Year's Day of this year, 2013. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. There is rejoicing in the midst of sadness because now she is experiencing a new heavenly beginning. Margaret or "Margie" as she was known to close friends and family was a longtime resident of Pasadena, Texas. She was preceded in death five years prior by her loving husband of 53 years, Nicholas Stephen Jakir. Her parents, Annie and George Spencer, her two sons, George A. Jakir and Robert Spencer Adams, and her daughter-in-law, Cari Adams preceded her in death as well. Margaret and her husband, Nicholas, were long standing members of Asbury United Methodist Church in Pasadena. Her children were raised in church and one of her most important accomplishments was that she prayed each four into the Lord's Kingdom. Margie worked for many years as a government employee at Langley Field in Virginia and Ellington AFB in Texas. She earned an AA degree from San Jacinto Jr. College and a BA degree in Elementary Education from U of H main campus in the later years of her life. Teaching in the public school was one of her greatest joys. For many years she taught second grade at Cloverleaf Elementary in G.P.I.S.D. and eventually retired from there. Margaret is survived by her two daughters and their spouses, Kathy and Sal Vega and Karen and Earnest Long, 13 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, and many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service in honor of Margaret will be held this Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Asbury U.M.C. at 5354 Space Center Blvd. in Pasadena, TX at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Lindstrom officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Asbury United Methodist Church. Private interment at Houston National Cemetery is planned near her perfect partner and beloved husband.
