Mary Jo DeShazo Ivens, born September 15, 1923 and passed away on October 5, 2014. Mary Jo was born in Chicota, Texas to parents Riley and Lena DeShazo. She had 4 brothers and 3 sisters, all deceased. Mary Jo leaves behind her loving husband of 65 years, Nolan Ivens. She is also survived by her 2 children, daughter, Lydia Sue Peckinpaugh and husband John, son, Max Nolan Ivens and wife Susan. Other survivors include grandchildren, Jason Charles Smith and wife Cristy, Ronald Nolan Ivens and wife Cheryl, Kelcey Leigh Davis and husband Robbie. Great grandchildren are Carson Ryan Smith, Triston Brady Smith, Mallory Brooke Davis, Ashlyn Bree Davis, and William Reece Nolan Ivens. She is also survived by her niece, Judy Culbreth. Mary Jo was raised in Grant, Oklahoma and graduated high school there. Mary Jo worked at Camp Maxie during World War II at a POW camp. She later moved to Oklahoma City to live with her sister, Jewel and her family. She and Nolan met at her sister's Ima Jean's house in 1947. They were married 2 years later on June 25, 1949. Mary Jo was a member of First Baptist Church of Pasadena for 52 years. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her honor to First Baptist Church Pasadena Building Fund. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 from 10AM to 11AM at First Baptist Church of Pasadena. Funeral Services will follow at 11AM at First Baptist Church of Pasadena 7500 Fairmont Pkwy in Pasadena. Interment will follow at Grand View Memorial Park.
