Rex Eugene Brown, Sr., born on November 15, 1949, to Helen & Bo Brown, was the light of their lives. He passed away to be with the Lord on June 17, 2014.
How do you speak for the one that spoke so eloquently for all of us? It's difficult. Like what he wrote for Pat at Christmas time. "You are my caregiver & helpmate for better or worse -now and forever. In your hands, you have always held and now hold the most fragile thing I possess - MY HEART!" How does one follow such beautiful words as those, but we will try, because he was so deserving of a speech about his life.
Here it goes Rex, You were a loving father, husband, son, uncle and friend. He had a calling to be a teacher at Liberty High School, his one true love for Science. He went to Deer Park High School, U of H Masters of Education and Bachelors in Science. He was retired from Exxon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bo & Helen Brown; son, Rex Jr,; Lou and Walter SoRelle; Hulen and Thelma Jones; Aunt Linda Parrish and Johnny Melton.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Pat Brown; and son, Mark Brown; several nieces and nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, and many friends.
Special thanks to Dr. Challa and Dr. Mary Hewett, ED Dept at San Jacinto and EMS Highlands Volunteer Dept. Pallbearers are Jeff Jones, John Litt, Christopher Litt, Dr. Chad Barrett, John Clark, Bob Campbell. Honorary
Pallbearers are Ralph Rose, Randy Gunter, Eddie Williams and Guy Williams.

Pat, so sorry to read of Rex's passing. I just happened to check the obits and read of your loss. I have such fond memories of all of us at Highlands 1st Assembly...I remember Rex's Sunday School class up stairs in the back of the church above the copier room. The last time I saw Rex was in 2005 at Larry's sister, Joyce's funeral. Larry and I live in Victoria, TX now. He retired in 2002 and we live on a lake here. We see Louise pretty often. Again, I am sorry for your loss; but we'll all be together again someday soon.

I want to wish the Brown family my deepest thoughts and prayers for your loss. I grew up in D Pk and attended schools here. My parents were teachers in this district and I knew the family from years ago. I read of his passing in the Dr Pk paper today and so sorry for your loss. May God Bless you all during the difficult time.

Pat, I am so sorry to read of Rex's passing. It is always difficult to lose someone so close, but especially so young. Reading of those that preceded him brought back many happy memories...Lou and Walter, Mr. and Mrs. Brown. And I have a special place in my heart for your caregiving of me after the birth and loss of my Maggie. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Rex and I taught next door to each other at Liberty, from 2011 to 2012. He was the absolute best part of my first year of teaching. It didn't take us long to become friends; we were both a little grumpy and sarcastic. We used to spend our off periods together eating popcorn and watching goofy videos on the internet. I remember one particular set of preacher videos had me laughing so hard I was crying. I'm honored to have gotten to spend that time with him. He will influence my teaching for the rest of my life. With love and respect,

Mr. Brown was one of my favorite teachers. He helped me when I was injured with my back. He made me laugh. He treated me like his own daughter. He was stayed on my mind since I graduated, and I am saddened that he went before I could see him again. There are no words for this loss.

Pat, I was shocked to get the phone call from your sister-in-law, but so grateful that you remembered me. Rex was my good friend and we shared great times together at DPHS and the University of Houston. It was so good seeing you both at the reunion. You know, as well as any of us, how special Rex was. He touched our hearts, made us laugh with his corny jokes and endeared himself to us as only he could do. I pray for God to comfort you in this difficult time, while being confident we will see "Wizard" again one day.
