Ronald T. "Ronald T. Avera" Avera

Ronald Avera of Pasadena, has passed away at age 78. Ron was born in Houston, Texas, on June 20, 1936, to Dorothy and Trent Avera. He attended Milby High School and joined the United States Marine Corps in 1953. After serving in Japan, Korea, and several years in the Reserves, he was honorably discharged with the rank of Sargent. Ron married Rose Ethel Ingram on December 20, 1958. Together they raised four children - Joe, Jerry, Jamie, and Dorothy. Ron was the owner of Allart Picture Framing, and over more than 50 years developed it into one of Houston's most respected services for artists, decorators, and designers. After passing the business to the next generation of the Avera family, he spent his free time pursuing his favorite pastime - fishing. A lifelong love of the sea, boats, fishing, and all things marine meant Ron was never very far from the water. In his earlier years he and a friend operated a small shrimp boat in Galveston bay, and his zest for fishing took him far out to sea, to lakes throughout Texas, and, eventually, twice to Alaska. He even spent two years lovingly hand-crafting his own wooden fishing boat. He also enjoyed hunting, quality time in the outdoors, and was a dedicated supporter of conservation efforts throughout the state. Ron leaves a devoted wife, Rose, a loving family of children and grandchildren, and friends who will long remember his gentle, unaffected manner, his deep integrity, and his wonderful sense of humor. A private commemoration will be held. In honor of his love of the outdoors, the family would like to encourage donations to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation.
