Thomas Herbert Haney, known to friends and family as Herb, 72, of Pasadena, Texas, passed away on March 31, 2012.
Herb was born in Tucumcari, NM to parents Vic and Stroud Haney. As a young boy, his family relocated to Dalhart, Texas. They were members of the Pine Street Methodist Church. Herb had many wonderful friends in the community and graduated from Dalhart High School in 1958.
Serving his country, Herb became a Surveyor in the Army. This service took him to Germany, France and Spain. Upon returning from the service, he graduated from Panhandle State University in Oklahoma.
Herb had a long and successful career. He began as a Design Engineer for Beach Aircraft in Liberal Kansas. After relocating to Pasadena, Texas, he worked for Pritchard and Abbott for many years. The last part of his career was spent as a Tax Consultant for Coastal Oil.
A lifetime love of motorcycles and antique cars kept Herb busy. He enjoyed rebuilding and showing all types of cars and leaves many friends behind in the Rod-Tiques Antique Car Club of Houston. Herb was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Preceded in death by his precious daughter, Kelly Diane Haney of Pasadena, Texas; parents Vic and Stroud Haney of Dalhart, Texas; brothers-in-law John Scott Martin of Pasadena, Texas, and John Oliver Crosswhite of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Herb is survived by his son, Thomas Herbert Haney, Jr., wife Julie and grandchildren Rowan and Sophie, of Austin, Texas; sisters Dorothy Martin Oliver and husband John of Pasadena, Texas and Marion Crosswhite of Plano, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

{ cannot think of my dear friend, Herb without a smile. We are preparing for our 62nd Class Reunion. I recall the last one Herb attended. He let his Mom drive one of his cherished vehicles in the parade. She was way back in the procession and Herb kept walking out in the street looking for her. He did not know if she had trouble or had gone south with his car. He was a long time friend as we grew up in Pine Street Methodist from cradle roll til death we do part.

I never knew Herb personally. But I'm sure I have known some of his qualities through his son, Thomas. So he must have been a great guy.
Thomas and family, you have my heartfelt sympathy at your loss.
