DEAN, Homer

Mr. Homer Dean passed away
peacefully January 26, 2013 after a lengthy illness. Homer was born in Pasadena to Eugene and Annie Dean. He was fourth from the youngest of 14 children. He attended Scott United Methodist Church from childhood and participated in the Choir, the Trustees and the United Methodist Men. Homer loved God with all his heart and would always tell you "God is good". Homer was a product of the Pasadena School system and graduated to work for the City of Pasadena for 36 years. In 1957 at the age of 23, Homer was the first Black Meter Reader for the City of Pasadena. After reading meters for a number of years, he progressed to become a Supervisor in the Finance Department until his retirement. He was on the Board of
Directors of the Pasadena Federal Credit Union for over 30 years. Homer provided for his family first and foremost. His family wanted for nothing. Homer loved barbequing, cooking for his family, deep sea fishing, traveling his in motor home with his lifetime Sweetheart, Ryllis and friends, bowling,
gardening, Colusa County and San Francisco. He was previously a member of Egyptian Temple #5 and Will W. Johnson Lodge #90, F. & A.M., Prince Hall Affiliation, The Social Lads, and the Syndicators Social Club.
Homer is survived by his son Steven (Michele), Oxnard CA and his daughter Valerie, Pasadena CA, his grandchildren, Sharnellirving (Kevin), Leigh Jenkins, Howard Jenkins III, Jenelle Dean-Fuller (Vijon), Paul Dean, Kalynn Dean, Meredith Dean; great-grandchildren, Jazmin Irving, Kameron Irving, Nathan Jenkins, Shayla Irving, Howard Jenkins IV, Joshua Irving, Noah Fuller and Yazmine Jenkins. His
brothers, William Dean, Herman Dean, Edward Dean, sisters, Susie Brown, Birdie Lovett, Beatrice Stubblefield and a host of relatives and friends that will truly miss him.
Homer was predeceased by his beautiful wife of 46 years Ryllis Dean and his second son, Stanley B. Dean, his parents Eugene and Annie Dean, brothers Woodrow, Wesley, Theodore, sisters Wilma, Odessa, Alice, and Barbara and a host of cousins and friends.
Homer Dean was an awesome father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, neighbor and friend.

Services will be held on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 11:00, Graveside at Mountain View Cemetery. Officiating is Rev. Dr. James E. Stevenson Sr., Scott United Methodist Church, Pasadena CA. Mountain View is handling the arrangements. There is no viewing. Homer, you will be dearly missed. Your legacy will live on. We truly thank God for allowing us to be a part of your life. We will see you again when the Lord says so. Until then, we will always know that
"God is good".

Rest now uncle Homer for you lived a beatiful life. You were always an inspiration to my life and always fun to be around. I will miss you. Valerie my prayers are with you and your family.You are a strong lady, uncle Homer wouldn't have no other way. Just remember God is with you always
