It was 1998. First day in class, Mr. Buck told everyone to forget about the textbook. He taught what he knew, what he had learned through his travels. 26 years later I remember every word. There has never been a better teacher than Mr. Stephen Buck. I was truly saddened when looking him up to discover he had passed. A truly fine human being, and those of us lucky to have learned from him are certainly better human beings for it. Thank you for everything Mr. Buck.

Mr Buck was my history teacher seventh grade Eliot 2009-2010. I´m not sure what made me think of him, I guess I was reminiscing on the past and his class was memorable enough to remember. If you knew Mr Buck, you were drawing ducks! If you know you know. God bless, mr buck would have been 70 this year. Happy belated 70th.

I was shocked and saddened when I read last Saturday of Steve’s death. It seemed like I had just said hello in Von’s although it could have been a few months ago. I met him first as my son’s history teacher and later when working at Eliot as a substitute teacher. Steve had a special talent for making history come alive and encouraging students to learn. I saw that in my son and in Steve’s classroom. It takes a special teacher to deal well with middle school students’ energy and he was one. As the obituary says, he was truly a renaissance man and we are the poorer for his passing. We pray God’s presence and peace will surround his family.

To the entire Buck family - I cannot fathom the immense hole in your hearts that Steve has left. When our little Wards group would assemble, it was Steve that kept us entertained and laughing. He always had a comeback for whatever you would say to him and he was a fountain of knowlege about anything and everything. I actually had no idea of how many places he had been as he was never one to boast about his life and adventures. He made such an impact on so many of his students, family and friends that I know his life was "a life well lived." Not many can say that. I didn't have your address to send a card and the service on Saturday seemed to go by so fast, but I just wanted you to know how much we all loved Steve. I will never forget his face, his mannerisms and his voice. 37 years of friendship wasn't enough, Steve. I will truly miss you forever. My deepest sympathy and love, Lori Ferrell

Buck was my best friend in high school. I last saw Steve (always called him "Buck" and never Steve) in 1999 at the 50th anniversary of the founding of Rosemead High School. We spent a wonderful day reminiscing about the old days. We vowed to keep in touch, but sadly did not. I only heard of his passing this morning, and though a large hole is in my heart, reading about his full life, and the testimonials of his students gives me great joy. I sure wish I'd kept in touch, Buck. You are greatly missed, even by those of us in your orbit from long ago.

I appreciated so much the wonderful service yesterday.
It truly honored Mr. Buck and his love of life, others and Jesus Christ.
Thank you.

Mr. Buck was my 7th grade history teacher. His lectures were far more than inspirational. At a time in my life when school was of little importance to me, sitting in HIS classroom often became a fantastic escape into a historical past unlike any other.

He was a great man who made an immense impact in my life, though I am not sure if he would have remembered me today. His memory will forever live in our hearts.

As an instructor Mr. Buck indeed came, saw and conquered.

Mical,You probably don't remember me.We knew each other at RHS. I remember Steve telling me in 1970 he wanted to go into the Priesthood. He was a sweet person. I am certain he grew into a wonderful man. My prayers are with you and your family. LaVerne Jacobs Lesznik.www.cottagehillfarm.com
