Stephen and I were never particularly close friends at Stanford, and I have had no contact with him since leaving college in 1974. However, I met Stephen because I was assigned as one of his three suite-mates in Roble when we first came to Stanford. The message telling of Stephen's passing did bring back memories of that significant time of adjustment in our young lives. I wish all the best to Stephen's family and friends
