Wayne Winslow Obituary

WINSLOW, Wayne M.
Sept. 30, 1932 - March 9, 2012

Wayne was born in Omaha, NE, moved to Brighton, CO at age 7 with parents and raised throughout various towns in that state. Would often refer to his parents as gypsies, as they seemed to always be moving. He entered the United States Navy in January 1, 1952, and was discharged at Treasure Island in December 1955. Settled in So. Calif., and was employed by Pacific Bell, retiring from there in Dec. 1986. The majority of his tenure was in Whittier, CA, where he resided with his then wife, Jessica A. Winslow, daughter Sharron and Sheila and son Steven. Both his ex-wife and son preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughters Sharron and Sheila, granddaughters: Wendy, Kim, Brandy and grandson Rick Minor III, and great-grandchildren: Phelan Minor and Hope Ayala. Brothers: Jerry & Bernice of San Leandro, CA., Roger & Constance of Sonoma, CA., Dewey & Bea of Beatrice, NE., and sister Bev Winslow of Fresno, CA. Numerous nieces and nephews. We will all miss him.
Service to be held Sunday, March 18, 2012, 1:00 p.m., at Rose Hills Memorial Chapel, Gate # 1, 3888 Workman Mill Rd.,
Whittier, CA. Interment at Rose Hills Memorial Park.

I am saddened today because it is the day of my Uncle Wayne's funeral and I cannot be there. I live in another state and could not afford to come and be with the rest of my family during this difficult time. Uncle Wayne you were truely loved by your family and I will miss you. May God keep you safe and I will see you again one day in heaven. I love you. Love, Dawn Reynolds

Wayne M. Winslow, What a great friend and Shipmate. We shared time together in the Navy on board the USS Bremerton CA-130 and shared the same employer the Bell System. We'll miss Wayne and his Jolly outgoing manner.
