Eugene Beaver Obituary

EUGENE BEAVER JR.
Born: February 29, 1936, Ajo, AZ to parents: Eugene Beaver, Sr. & Margaret Beaver. Died: June 20, 2018, Bullhead City, AZ; of complications from pneumonia.
As a child, after WWII, he moved to Riverside, CA; in 1948, began living in a home built by his father, in what is now Jurupa Valley, CA. He lived in Riverside most of his life, with stints in Yuma, AZ and Glendora, CA; before moving to Bullhead City in 2009. He attended Glen Avon Grade School, Central Jr. High, and Poly High in Riverside. He did not graduate from high school due to injuries sustained in an accident but later earned his G.E.D.
Gene worked as a draftsman for J.F. Davidson & Assoc. Civil Engineering and earned his Land Surveyor's License. He married the former Helen Gile of Riverside, and was father to two children: Misty Lynn Beaver and Todd Brendan Beaver; later divorced. He survived a childhood case of dysentery; and three automobile accidents in the 1960s. The final accident left him permanently disabled and unable to pursue his Land Survey career. He also survived both prostate and colon cancer in his later years.
Gene was a lifelong jazz enthusiast and named his daughter after the jazz standard "Misty" by Garner & Burke. He was also artistic and loved to draw. He had been building a boat in his garage at the time of his third accident. In his later years, he was baptized at the Church of Christ in Riverside. He loved to share corny jokes and puns with his nieces and nephews and was an avid Dodgers fan, listening to and watching games by whatever medium was available.
Gene is survived by his sister, Joyce M. Christiansen and younger brother, Hubert D. Beaver (Melanie), both of Bullhead City, AZ; seven nieces, one nephew, five great-nieces, and 5 great-nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Kenneth L. Beaver, of San Bernardino, CA.
Graveside service and interment at Evergreen Memorial Park, Riverside, CA on Tuesday, July 10, at 1:30 pm; message by Denise Tomlinson, lay speaker; jazz sendoff by The Rhythm Generators.
