Joseph Deaton

JOSEPH A. DEATON Age 82, resident of Perris, CA for 41 years, suddenly and unexpectedly went to be with His Lord on February 25, 2011. Joe was born 06/20/1928 to Joseph and Novie Deaton in Mayfield, KY. He was raised on a tobacco farm with his sister, Norma Jean Boaz and brother Billy Houston Deaton. Joe was one for adventure and traveled and worked throughout the States until he joined the Marine Corps in 1950. There he served as a Sgt. in ALPHA Company, 7th Motor Transport Battalion, in the Korean War, earning the Commendation Medal. Upon returning home in 1952 he met and then married Alma Sue Elliott on Nov. 11, 1952. His occupation was operating engineer (heavy equipment operator). Joe and Sue moved often as he worked on freeway systems, missile sights, and building dams, etc. They were blessed with three daughters: Caroline, Kathy, and Cynthia. He was a rock to his family as he provided and cared for each of us. He served as a deacon in his local Baptist church and very active in its food program that has helped to feed needy people in the surrounding communities. Joe is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sue Deaton, and his three daughters: Caroline (Carter) Edwards, Kathy Sumners, and Cynthia Deaton; four grand-children: Mahria, Jamie, Laura, and David Joseph; eight great grand-children: Joel, Tess, Samantha, Michael, Ashlee, Austin, Ayden, and Dillon; and one great-great grand daughter, Jordyn. None of which were ready to say goodbye to our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. So we will say, "see you soon". The memorial service will be Sunday, March 6th, at 3:00 pm at ACTS I Baptist Church, 28390 Hwy. 74, Menifee, CA 92585. His final resting place will be at Riverside National Cemetery.
