Paul Bangasser Obituary

BANGASSER, PAUL F., long time resident of West Covina, & former resident of Freeport, Illinois, passed away on January 14, 2004, at Redlands Community Hospital. Paul was born September 19, 1920, in Freeport, Illinois. He is survived by his wife Florence, his son Ronald Bangasser, M.D., daughter-in-law Susan, granddaughters Debra & Sandra, & several nieces & nephews. He is a World War II veteran & he served with the U.S. Air Force. He received multiple military honors including a Philippines Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Star, & World War II Victory Medal. While residing in Freeport, Illinois, Paul worked with the Honeywell Corporation for 35 years, as an engineer designing micro switches. Paul volunteered for over 10 years by assisting the Alta Loma Junior High School band led by his daughter, Linda Smith (Miss B). His care & affection for the students in the program encouraged many. He was presented an Honorary Service Award by the Alta Loma Jr. High PTSA for his dedication & service to the students & music program. Paul will be remembered by his family as a loving & caring husband & father. He will also be remembered for his exuberant & compassionate personality, which so often inspired immediate & lasting friendships. The visitation is scheduled for Sunday evening, January 18, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Cortner Chapel in Redlands, with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. A mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, January 19, at 10:00 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Redlands. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Redlands Community Hospital Foundation, at Redlands Community Hospital, 350 Terracina Blvd., Redlands, CA 92373. Private interment Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, CA.
