Ruby ROSGEN Obituary

ROSGEN, Ruby Freda
(nee Quaschnick)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ruby Rosgen of Drumheller, AB, on February 20, 2014 at the age of 90 years. Ruby was born in Hanna, AB, on June 6, 1923, to Fred and Lydia Quaschnick. She enjoyed a loving childhood along with her older brother Ted on the family farm near Watts, AB. Ted introduced her to the love of her life, Ed Rosgen, whom she married on April 17, 1942. Together they embarked on a life of love and friendship that included eight children. Ruby and Ed spent over 30 years farming in the Munson and Michichi area, while raising their family. They moved to Drumheller in 1974, where they spent the remainder of their lives. As the children grew, Ruby found time to enjoy hobbies. She became an avid golfer and curler, meeting friends who would remain dear to her for the rest of her life. She also enjoyed many years volunteering at the Catholic rectory and with the CWL. Ruby was a wonderful woman who had a deep faith that guided her through her life, and provided inspiration to her family. Sincere, gentle and kind were words that were commonly used to describe her. She always greeted you with a genuine smile and warm hospitality. Her laughter and love will be greatly missed. Ruby was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Ed (1996), her parents Fred (1963) and Lydia (1982), her brother Ted (1969), her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Wilf and Marie Rosgen, Dick Rosgen, Mildred and Toby McClung, Pat and Leonard Langford, Herman Kuysters, Tom Rosgen and Toni Quaschnick. She is survived by five sons and three daughters: Jerry (Janie) of Drumheller, Anita Coderre (Roland) of Calgary, Jim (Jan) of Sointula, BC, Carol Chorney (Dave) of Calgary, Bill (Wendy) of Battleford, SK, Tony (Bev) of Calgary, Bob (Lisa) of Drumheller, and Shelley Yavis (Pat) of Okotoks. She also leaves 20 grandchildren and 24 great- grandchildren: Steven (Linda; Craig, Brianna), Janice Beler (Kirk; Kody, Jared), Cathy Losoncy (Derek; Zoey, Jack), Joyce Wilson (;Aidan), Lorena Mabley (Chris; Emma, Ryan, Austin), Carrie Ketting-Olivier (Marcel; Rory, Milana), Kindra, Cristin Krilow (Kirby; Marley), Elizabeth Booth (Aaron; Ruby, Henry), Greg Chorney (Erika; Nathaniel, Colton, Ember), Doug Chorney (Brandi; Caleb, Jason), Bill (Lana), Matthew (Darcie; Ashley, Evan, Rylee), Brad, Ryan Ferguson, Amy Ferguson, Samantha Kuperis (Matt; Charlotte), Dan Yavis, Jake Yavis and Zack Yavis.
