Dawn Renee Netzel

1970 - 2024

Dawn Renee Netzel, 53 went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 1, 2024. Dawn was born on June 24, 1970, in Pasadena, Texas to Allen and Florence Netzel. She grew up in Pearland, attending Pearland schools. She was on the drill team Texan Bells through the Dads Club for six years. Dawn was very active in sports, especially Volleyball and Softball. While in her Senior year at PHs, Dawn received a two-year scholarship from Alvin Jr. College to play volleyball. Afterwards, she attended San Jacinto Jr. College for one semester, she then was accepted to Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in August of 1994. Dawn worked many jobs throughout her career, however, the job she spoke most highly of was when she worked for KBR from 2008-2011. While working for KBR, she had a chance to work in Iraq, Dubai, and Bahrain. It was a difficult job, but many times she shared with her mother that she wished she had never left that job.

Dawn loved nature and the outdoors. She loved gazing at God's creations. Always looking for unusual rocks, twigs, and at the beautiful fallen leaves. She would gather what she could bring home and she would arrange them as if she was putting a puzzle together.

She loved people and never met a stranger. Living in Tyler, she frequented the Alpha House to spend time having fellowship with her friends. She also was involved with a Ministry called Church under the Bridge, doing this every Sunday.

Dawn is survived by her loving parents, Allen and Florence Netzel; sister, Deborah Vorpe and husband, Tom; niece, Danielle Wong and husband, Connor; and great-nephew, Chandler Wong. Other loving relatives included aunt, Dorothy Syptak; uncle, James Syptak; aunt, Jeanette Harville; cousin, Leslie Allen; cousin, Jim Syptak and wife, Amy. In addition numerous relatives and friends, Dawn was preceded in death by grandparents, Floyd and Ida Netzel; grandfather, Milford Syptak; uncle, Marvin Netzel; uncle, Eddie Harville.

Dawn's family would like to express their sincere thanks to Pam Johnston, Desiree Stevens, and Jack Ingram. Truly special friends to Dawn. They were mentors, always helping her and being there for her. A special thank you goes to her caring family at the Wiseman Lighthouse Ministries, Overton, Texas and the Alpha House in Tyler, Texas. As well to the medical staff on the 4th floor at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, Texas.
