Jon Furlong Obituary
Jon was born in Seattle, Washington on February 18, 1968, and lived in Issaquah and Snoqualmie, before moving to Alaska with his family in 1977. He lived in Sterling, Anchor Point, and spent his final years in Soldotna.
Jon graduated from Soldotna High School and worked in construction for 14 years; then for the Department of Corrections for 10 years before becoming disabled.
Jon enjoyed hunting all his life, passing these skills along to his sons, who were a very large part of his life, and his friends. In his last days he expressed the desire to teach his sons right from wrong.
Jon is survived by wife, Shelli; sons, Brooks (17) and Brenner (13); father and step-mother, Dan and Claudia Furlong; mother, Sherry Furlong; sister and brother-in-law, Kelly and Randy Dellar; nephews, Camden and Jonathan Dellar; grandparents, Daniel T. Furlong, Dale and Jean Webster, and Evelyn Webster; in-laws Gerry and LouJean Tullos; and numerous relatives.
There will be a viewing on Monday, November 11, 2013, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the Soldotna Bible Chapel followed by a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. Lite refreshments will be served afterwards. Jon's family will scatter his ashes, according to his wishes.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Soldotna High School Athletic Department (425 W. Marydale Ave., Soldotna), or the Scleroderma Foundation, at www.scleroderma.org.

There was nothing more amazing that watching Brooks & Brenner point to Heaven every time they scored a touch down, it was a great tribute to Jon. Those two boys have turned into men and are not already great role models but will also be great Dads, Husbands

He was a great friend as a young boy growing up in the small town of anchorpoint lots of fun memories from the early 80's and late 70's. Jon will always live in my great memories of growing up.....

My prayers go out to all of you ~ I knew Jon elementary, middle and during high school and was a neighbor of his while he lived in Anchor Point and thought a lot of him. Very sad news about Jon. We got to spend a couple of weeks with Jon at moose camp on the Koyukuk River back in 2005, he had a great time, got a nice moose and we enjoyed every minute of his company, what a great guy. Our deepest sympathy to his family.

Anyone worthy of God's blessing of sending Jon to us appreciates the loss we are feeling of a very special dad, father, son and friend who was taken from us way too soon.
