Eugenie Faure Obituary

Eugenie Fenlon "Genie" Faure passed away peacefully August 24, 2013, in Seattle, Washington.

She was born in 1919 in Butte, Montana, where she attended primary and secondary school.

She graduated from Mount Mary College, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with a degree in social work in 1940. She worked as a social worker in Butte, Hamilton and Livingston, Montana.

In Livingston, she met Raymond Faure and married him in 1945.

They lived in Livingston until 1950, then moved to Worland, Wyoming. In 1961, they moved to Basin, Wyoming, where they lived until 1980, when she and Ray retired in Sequim.

Ray passed away in 1991, and Genie remained in Sequim until 2012, when she moved to Seattle.

Genie was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She was intelligent and instilled a love of learning in her children.

At the center of her life was her faith: She was very active in all the parishes to which she belonged, and her faith sustained her through good times and bad.

Genie was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Faure; son Raymond Faure Jr.; her parents, Thomas Fenlon and Margaret Brennan Fenlon; and her siblings, Alice Fenlon, Mary Olson and the Reverend Thomas Fenlon.

She is survived by four of her children, Greg (Amanda) of Yuma, Arizona, John of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Tom (Trish Quinn) of Boulder, Colorado, and Margaret (Charles Mahan) of Seattle.

She is survived by four grandchildren, Brian (Christi) and Kevin (Stephanie) of Liberty Hill, Texas, Emily Kiefer (Anthony Dewhirst) of London and Patrick Kiefer of Newport, Rhode Island; and seven great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by many nephews and nieces; particularly devoted to her were her sister's children, Mary Jane Olson of Boston, Massachusetts, Alice Zentner of Palmer Lake, Colorado, John Olson of Livingston and Al Olson of Seattle.

A memorial service at Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Seattle was held August 30, 2013. A celebration of her life is planned at a later date in Butte.

We would like to thank the staff of Magnolia Adult Family Home in Seattle who took such good care of Genie in her final years. They were most loving, caring and respectful.

Aunt Genie was a very special woman I have some nice memories of her. It had been years since I had seen her but had often wondered where and how she was. She will be in our prayers. I am Ernie and Lucille Faure"s daughter.
