Lois String Obituary

Lois G. (Finkbone) String, 95, of Harrisburg, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Columbia Cottage, Linglestown.

Born February 10, 1929 in Harrisburg to the late John and Lena S. (Kocher) Finkbone of Penbrook.

Lois was a graduate of John Harris High School and Frederick's School of Beauty Culture.

She had worked alongside her husband, Floyd, at N.F. String & Son, Inc., Coin Wrap, Inc. and S&R Management as a bookkeeper. She had also worked at Bowman's Department Store.

Lois was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, Harrisburg. She was a member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Harrisburg Forest #43 Cedarette's, the Harrisburg Garden Club, the Executive Dinner Club, and the Red Hat Ladies. She was a former Brownie and Girl Scout leader. She was an avid roller skater, reader, and world traveler.

She was the widow of Floyd K. String, to whom she was married to for 70 years. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters; Betty Finkbone, Alice Finkbone, and a brother, William Finkbone.

Surviving are her children, Deborah String of East Pennsboro Township, Gregory (Gail) String of Mechanicsburg, Chevonne (Rob) Robison of Yorklyn, DE and SallyJo (Michael) String/Wilson of Middletown and granddaughters, Dr. Gabrielle String (Steven Brindak), Gretchen String and Genna String. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Joyce Mehler.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 11, 2024 at the Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, 2100 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110, with Reverend Karin E. Pejack officiating. Burial will be in East Harrisburg Cemetery, Harrisburg.

Viewing will be from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions in Lois's honor may be made to Hospice For All Seasons, 280 South Hill Drive, Grantville, PA 17028.
