David Allen Spear

1958-2014

David Allen Spear, 55, passed away August 2, 2014 in Pensacola, FL. He was a kind and caring father and husband. David always put his family above himself even unto the end. He was a hardworking man who always treated everyone fairly. Spending time with his family and children at the family camp was one of David's favorite things to do. David also loved to play the guitar, especially Hank Williams, Sr. songs. David was preceded in death by his stepfather, William "Papa" Seals; maternal grandparents: Henry and Thelma Morris and paternal grandparents: Amos and Christine Spear. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Judy Mahan Spear; daughter, Jessica Nicole Spear; son, Drew Allen Spear; daughter, Julia Lauren (Frank) Butler; mother, Thelma Dolores Seals; father, William Amos Spear; two brothers: Billy (Gail) and Scott (Kahly); two sisters, Susan (Don) and Christie; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

A memorial service will conducted at 6:00 pm Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home; 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, FL.

It is with great sadness and regret to learn of Davids passing, a childhood friend with whom i had lost contact with over the years. The memories of riding mini bikes in Spears woods, the burnt out house, summer days at the Saufley Field pool, gym and golf course and playing football for the Bellvue Packers were some of the best times of my life and i owe those to David and the entire Spear family.

It was much sadness when I heard of the passing of my cousin David. I had seen David several times earlier this year at the hospital visiting him in his room.

David was a good person. I always enjoyed playing in the woods around his house with his brother Billy and later Scott. We would rule the forest and protect his sister's Susan and Christie.

My heart goes out for David's wife and children along with his mom (Aunt Delores) and dad (Uncle Bill) and his brothers and sisters and other cousins.

My husband and I both had the pleasure of working with David at Pen Air. He was one of the nicest men I have ever met. His Pen Air family loved him very much. He was always there when you needed him no matter what. I remember when my husband was sick and David was so concerned that he would get better..even though it was just a cold. Always thinking of others. He will truly be missed but I know we have a guardian angel. My thoughts are with his family.
