Emery Connor Obituary

Emery Connor

Emery Wade Connor, 42, son, loving husband, and caring father, was called home to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on April 17, 2014, after being the victim of a senseless act of violence perpetrated against him in Klamath Falls, Ore.

Mr. Connor was born on Aug. 22, 1971, in Prescott, Ariz., to Thomas and Anne (Heiden) Connor.

He was reared in Pensacola, Fla., where he was active in both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts as a child as well as in the First United Methodist Church, where for a time he served as an acolyte. He continued his love of scouting as an adult as both Mr. Connor and his son were active in the Boy Scouts.

As an adult, Mr. Connor worked as a commercial master electrician in Pensacola. His work brought him for a period of time to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He opened and operated his own business Connor Electrical Services in 1995 while living in Fort Collins, Colo.

In February 2006, he hired on with the BNSF Railway in Alliance, Neb., as a locomotive electrician. In August 2010, he was promoted to Mechanical Foreman I at Hauser, Idaho, at which time Mr. Connor moved his family to Northern Idaho. He loved the area as it had much to offer in hunting and fishing. In September 2012, he accepted the position of Mechanical Foreman II in Klamath Falls, which allowed him to be responsible for locomotive and car operations as well as working on derailments. Mr. Connor loved the work he did for the railroad and was very highly respected by both his peers and his superiors.

In 1994, he met the love of his life Lynette Drown in Rohnert Park, Calif. They were married on April 2, 1995, in Lake Tahoe and they spent many hours together fly-fishing in Estes National Park in Colorado.

Mr. Connor had a love for both hunting and fishing. He was an avid bow hunter and loved to hunt for turkey, deer, and elk. He was quite accomplished in calling for turkeys, rattling for deer, and bugling elk. He exhibited a strong belief to his son and others that hunting is always done on foot and would get upset with folks who hunted from four wheelers or vehicles. He tied and used his own flies for fishing. The quality of the work associated with his flies reflected the attention to detail that he displayed in many of the areas of his life. His favorite fly was a Purple Wooly Bugger. A favorite fishing trip with his wife Lyn occurred in 2000 when they fished the Big Horn River in Montana on Thanksgiving Day.

Mr. Connor displayed a great love for both his family and for life as evidenced by the way he lived it to the fullest. He will be sorely missed, by not only his family, but many others whose lives he has touched.

Survivors include his family in Klamath Falls of wife Lyn; son Luke, 11; and daughter Emily, 7. Additionally, he is survived by his mother Anne Connor of Pensacola.

A funeral will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at 10 a.m. in New Horizon Christian Fellowship, 1909 Homedale Road, Klamath Falls. Pastor Mike Voight will be officiating.

A donation account, Emery Connor Family Memorial Fund, has been set up at Wells Fargo Bank. Donations to this account can be made at any Wells Fargo Bank nationwide.

I believe I worked with Emery at Aall Electric in Loveland. I'm shocked and saddened to hear of his passing if it's the same Emery I worked with! So sorry. He was a great person.

We knew Emery from his Fort Collins business, Connor Electrical. He did a significant amount of work for us, including re-wiring the entire house, adding a panel, etc... so we felt like we got to know him over the course of several months - he would even play with our cat! :-) Now, we are looking to get some more electrical work done, so I looked him up... We are so saddened and shocked by what happened, without words, really. We are grateful for the excellent job he did for us and the opportunity to get to know him. He always spoke highly and fondly of his family - he only had one young son during the time he did work for us. Our deepest sympathies. We are so sorry.

Dearest Anne and Family, My heart hurts for you! Know that you are all in my prayers every day. Be comforted in knowing that you raised a good kid who grew up to be a good man. Lyn, Luke and Emily, his family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and fellow Boy Scouts were evidence of living a good life and enjoying every moment he could. Cherish those memories. We can wonder why these things happen but we won't get answers now .... Hopefully when we see him again it really won't matter. Until then know we are thinking about you and we love you all.

(I signed the guestbook the day the obit hit the web but it never posted...trying again.)

Emery,
Though we were cousins by birth, you, Brandon & Berry were really more like brothers to me! I will never forget all the fun (and not so fun moments) we had growing up...being chased by bees at Big Springs (I never step on holes to this day!), fishing off the pier & in MS ("They stank, you still wont 'em??"), peeling shrimp fresh from the market, working on you and Bran's old cars in the garage, you all trying to teach me to surf (ha!), watching shooting stars on the beach at night (so cool!), "hot donuts" at 2am (Yum!), Disney World, searching the old forts and the abandoned airfield after dark...(creepy!), sangria until it hurts, keeping in touch via text/email... Oh yes, I have countless fond memories of our years together! I miss you terribly every day! I know that you're up there enjoying the Great Outdoors of Heaven now, visiting with your dad and laughing with mine...but oh, how we all selfishly wish you were still here but God had other plans! Until we meet again, Brother!

Lyn, Luke and Emily,
You will forever be my family. You remain in my thoughts and prayers DAILY! Keep the memories close to your heart and talk about Emery every day! He loved you all, dearly, and will be watching over you always!

Dearest Aunt Anne,
What can I say except I'm so sorry for your terrible loss! And I love you so, so much!!

Much love & (((HUGS))) to all,
Misti

This hit us all very hard. Emery was truly a great friend and colleague. He told us after he left Alliance that he missed all his good friends and the comraderie at the shop. We had training together in Ft Worth last year. We all went out for a few meals, talked about old times, and shared a few laughs. I know words can't heal the pain your family is feeling right now. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Please let us know if there is any way we can help. Mr. Emery Connor, I'm proud to have been your friend, you will never be forgotten, rest in peace.
