Gary Myers Obituary

UntitledGARY A. MYERS
1956-2008

Born October 3, 1956, Gary A. Myers, President of Myers Construction of N.W. FL INC, died at his home Saturday, February 23, 2008 with his wife by his side. Gary was a family man, and a man who was truly adored by everyone who had the pleasure to meet him. He was proud to be a baseball coach of his sons' childhood teams, and immensely enjoyed all the youths who played. Derek and Jeremy eventually moved on to soccer, Gary, again, would never miss a game. The Myers family traveled extensively while the proud parents watched their sons evolve into men. Gary was proud to have worked in the building industry for over 30 years, and was known for his precision and excellence in craftsmanship. He was a contractor who always left his customers in awe. Everyone who knew Gary knows he attributes his success to the loyalty and belief of all those who surrounded him, on and off the job site. Gary would like to extend a special appreciation to Ruston Rood and family, for taking him under his wing and teaching him the skills he needed to become a successful contractor.
He grew up in Brent, where his first job was delivering newspapers to his local community, developing the work ethic he continued through life. He was blessed to be raised by two loving parents, Gwendolyn and the late Alton E. Myers who nurtured him to have much spirit and grace. Gary was inducted into the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite; he was honored to be sponsored by his father.
Gary and Denise, his beloved wife, recently celebrated their 25th Anniversary on November 27, 2007. He leaves us knowing that he has in a profound way, raised three wonderful and successful children. Gary will also be deeply missed in the lives of his adored grandchildren, Burke and Webb. "Paw Paw" enjoyed every minute that he had spent with them. Gary's memory will be kept alive by Burke, Webb, and his grandchildren to come.
Preceding in death is his father, Alton Emerson Myers.
Gary is survived by his wife, Denise; daughter, Dovennie Day, her husband, Judson; two grandsons, Burke and Webb. Gary also was the proud father of two sons, Derek and Jeremy. Other survivors include is mother, Gwendolyn Wise Myers; two brothers, Errol and Clifton and his wife Helen. He will also be deeply missed by his nephew, Marcus. Gary has left his imprint on the hearts of his in-laws, Roberta and Allen Sealer; brothers-in-law, Barry and John Mark Brockner, wife Tiffinie and their son, Brady. His loyal work crew and friends, Jim, Kenny, David, and Wes will also fondly remember him. The "No Rules Band" members, Bo, Gary, Rusty, and Joe and their respective families will have to continue to rock on with Gary's memory in mind. In addition, he leaves his memories and love to numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
As "The Gary Myers", our father, would say "it'll be alright".
Visitation will be held at FAITH CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 100 Beverly Pkwy, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2008. First memory of Gary walking thru the halls of our school (PHS)and seeing Gary in class dressed in his surfer attire. Gary always showed care for everyone around him. He truly knew how to enjoy life. The above prayer reminds me of him as I knew him as a school mate. As we all moved on with our lives I lost touch with Gary and his family. My thougths and prayer are with them now. Take comfort in knowing Gary is now in a really good place. God Bless.
