Glenn Chavers Obituary

GLENN WILLIAM CHAVERS
DECEMBER 27, 1931 -
MAY 12, 2010

Glenn, 78, passed from this life Wednesday at his home in Milton, Florida surrounded by four generations of his family.
He was the beloved husband of Martha Chavers for over 55 years. He will be loved and remembered by his children: John Flowers, Jr. (Sandra), Floyd Flowers, Joe Flowers, Glenn Chavers, Jr. (Debbe), Jerry Chavers (Dee Dee), and Susan Chavers Spooner (Matt). He will forever live in the hearts of all his loved ones, including his ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and other loved family members.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mary Alice Chavers, and his four brothers: Aubrey, C.B., Ray, and Clifford.
Glenn served in the Air Force for 20 years beginning in 1951. His service took him all over the United States and to Okinawa and Greenland. He retired honorably in 1971. Following his years of military service, Glenn worked as Head of Security for the GSA, IRS and the Treasury buildings in Austin, Texas and later as the Regional Director for Wackenhut Security. He retired from the Security Division of Texas Instruments.
Having seen his youngest child graduate, Glenn decided it was finally time to return to his beloved home town of Milton, FL. Here he was finally able to spend time in his favorite recreations. He was an avid fisherman, a passionate deer hunter, an accomplished bowler, as he was one of the top 30 bowlers in Austin, Texas when he retired and moved back to Milton continuing his bowling prowess at Avalon Bowling Center.
Pall bearers for the funeral are: John Flowers Jr., Joe Flowers, Glenn Chavers Jr., Jerry Chavers, Matt Spooner, and A.J. Flowers.

Sorry I wasn't there for you Dad but I would have if I could have. Think about you every day and all the things you did for me growing up. There's a void in my heart that just won't heal. You were the greatest DAD a son could ask for. Will miss you every day that I have left here on earth.

In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going." Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. -- John 14:2-6
