Grace Edward Obituary

Grace Ward Edwards

1945-2016

Grace Ward Edwards, 71, a long-time resident of Pensacola, passed away unexpectedly on August 2, 2016. She was one of 4 children born to Ruth and Tyrus Ward in Boston, Massachusetts on January 4, 1945.

She was a graduate of Escambia High School, Class of '62. After graduation, years were filled with traveling with United Airlines, love and marriage, becoming a mom to Caroline, and eventually settling into retirement after 25 years as a county clerk for Escambia County. She loved spending time with the family and getting involved with the grandkids sports, not leaving out cheering on the Boston Red Sox.

Grace is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Virginia Ward.

She is survived by one daughter, Caroline (Jon) VanZandt; 2 grandchildren, Nike & Jack; a sister, Louise (Tex) Sinon; brother, Albert (Sherri) Ward; 5 nieces and nephews; 1 great-niece; and 2 special cousins, Judy Dashawetz and Lucia Dolan; and former husband and friend, Michael Edwards.

On Wednesday, August 10, 2016, a visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until the memorial service begins at 6:00 p.m. at Trahan Family Funeral Home of Pensacola, who is in charge of arrangements.

I love my Aunt Grace so much I cannot believe this is happening. To read the kind words from so many is heartwarming. Grace's positive impact on my life will continue as she is a major source of my internal strength. God could not have blessed this girl with a better Aunt on the planet. I love you Aunt Grace. I lived next door to the Ward family for a number of years....Saw Grace a few months ago so glad I got to visit. She was still beautiful inside and out...So sorry to hear this sad news...

Like so many of our classmates have already said, Grace was special because she was so beautiful, yet so sweet and kind. I can still see her walking quickly in the hallway with her shiny black hair swinging to and fro with a smile on her face. Everyone loved Grace. This is a terrible loss for those of us left behind, both friends and family. She will be missed more than she would ever have imagined.

My sincere condolences to your family, may God give each of you the strength to get through your loss. I will surely miss my neighbor and friend Ms. Grace, she always had a smile on her face when she greeted me; and she was always willing to do whatever she could to help her neighbors. Ms. Grace may you forever rest in peace, may God Bless your family and friends.

We shared a lot of memories. The first time I saw her beautiful daughter Caroline she was maybe 6 months old and sitting in a high chair. Big beautiful eyes and wearing little glasses. We had many conversations about the love she had for Caroline and her family. Kiddo I miss you.

One of the most beautiful girls at Escambia High School. We sat next to each other in coach Whatleys history class and became good friends.
She was a jewel in our time and will forever be missed.
