EASLEY — Pete G. Stathos, 81, of 105 Baldwin Place, died June 27, 2016.
Born in Sparta, Greece, he was the son of George and Stavroula Stathakos. He was preceded in death by his wife Litsa B. Stathos in 2003.
Mr. Stathos was self-employed and owned the Pete's Drive-In of Easley. He was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral and had served in AHEPA.
Surviving are his son, Jimmy Stathos; his daughter, Anna Hontzeas Stathos; a daughter-in-law, Julie Stathos; a son-in-law, Yiotis Hontzeas; two brothers, Jimmy Stathos of Myrtle Beach and Gus Stathos of Calabash, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Tony Hontzeas, Pete Stathos and Litsa Stathos.
Services will be held Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral with Father Tom Pistolis officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 29, 2016, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The Mackey Mortuary on Century Drive, with a Trisagion Service at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 406 N. Academy St., Greenville, SC 29601.

I will miss my friend Pete Stathos. As a teen, my friends and myself enjoyed going to his restaurant and sharing laughs with him. He was a truly wonderful man, may god gather him in his arms.

My prayers are with the family. Mr. Pete was such a sweet man and I will always remember him carrying my son around while we ate but first he would bring him a bowl of grits so he didn't have to wait as long as we did. When he saw him after he had got bigger I remember him going around telling some of the customers that he used to tote Zachary who was now a young man and over 6 feet tall. He would then come over with a great big smile, pat him on the back and say now you will have to carry me. Our hearts are truly broken at his loss.
